The 151st running of the Preakness Stakes takes place on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland — making history as the first time the race has ever been held away from its traditional home of Pimlico Race Course, which is currently undergoing a major renovation.
With Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo choosing to bypass the race and point toward the Belmont Stakes, the door is wide open for a new champion. A full field of 14 three-year-old thoroughbreds will battle it out over 1 3/16 miles of dirt at 6:50 PM ET.
